Years ago, as a student, my college launched a foreign study program which was incredibly popular. Most of my fellow students were able to study in a foreign country for at least one semester, sometimes two. I have to say, I was green with envy. Living on financial aid as a poor student, I just couldn't stretch my dollars to have that once in a lifetime experience.
But I wasn't going to let that stop me. I decided to open a savings account so I could put away money from my part-time waitress job. My goal: to give myself a European vacation package after graduating. But, it didn't really happen. You see, sometimes life throws you curveballs that prevent you from meeting your goals.
With my fortieth birthday looming, I've decided that it's now or never. Five years ago, I started saving for trip to Europe. I've worked out that even with the terrible exchange rates I have enough cash to tour for three weeks.
Using the internet, I've already started looking at the various European vacation packages out there. Of course, I have some destinations and places that I really must visit, so whatever package I decide on will need to reflect these. I want at least a few days in London, a couple in Paris and I want at least a week in Italy.
To be honest, my research so far has been surprisingly good. There are quite a few travel sites I have come across that have incredibly cheap flight prices and hotel room rates. Of course, they also offer discounted European vacation packages.
These packages allow you to travel as part of a group with an English-speaking guide. With my lack of languages and never having visited Europe before, this sounds the best way to explore. Since I'm only booking it for myself, it means I won't be completely alone on my journey. There will be other singles travelling as well.
I have narrowed down my choices to four European vacation packages which will suit my needs. Right now, my bank account nearly has enough in it to get booking. Perhaps I should stop messing about with the PC and begin filling my suitcase!
If you have had life-long dreams of travelling overseas, try arranging your European vacation package through travel websites. Rather than assume the price will be too high, it doesn't cost a penny to see just how much it costs. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the cheap European vacation packages out there. And who knows? You could climbing the Eiffel Tower, seeing Big Ben or rambling through the streets of Barcelona sometime in the near future!
